Walk To End
The Wait

Between 12-25 August, I am going to walk 600km to raise money and awareness of the need for more organ donors in Australia to reduce the waiting time for life-saving organ transplants

Helping Transplant Children and the World Transplant Games

Gordon Rutty is passionate about helping others. As an altruistic kidney donor, he made the selfless act of donating a kidney to a stranger. Now he wants to help children with transplants celebrate their renewed life at the 2023 World Transplant Games in Perth. Gordon is leading two fundraising efforts on the Gold Coast in 2022:

  • The Walk To End The Wait where he will walk 42 kilometres a day for 14 days
  • The Orange Ball on the Gold Coast on Friday, October 7.

Your support will provide subsidies for up to 50 transplant children and their families from around Australia. The money will help them with registration, accommodation, travel, and uniform expenses to represent Australia.

All donations are fully tax deductible.

WHy AM I Doing This ?

The aim of the Walk To End The Wait is to increase the awareness of the need for Australians who desire to donate their organs when they no longer need them, to have a conversation with their families, and register themselves.

Only one in three Australians are registered donors despite the majority (69%) believing that registering to be an organ donor is important.

There are around 1,650 Australians currently waitlisted for a transplant and more than 12,000 additional people on dialysis — many of whom may need a kidney transplant.

Now more than ever, we need more Australians to say “YES” to organ donation.

Please support my walk.

It starts in August. I might even see you on the road!
